DC Studios Multi-Year Plan Announcement and Other News.

And just like that, one half of new head of DC Studios, James Gunn took to social media to announce their road map for the next several years thereby also consolidating its universe for films, TV streaming and comicbooks. No longer will there be differently confusing Batmen and alternate versions of characters under one roof. From non-Henry Cavill Superman to animated Creature Commandos to Authority anti-heros, this primary "phase" has been labeled, Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Even for the cynic, many hope we will get fresh solid storytellings enough to rival Kevin Feige's MCU. Let's wait and see.

The Last of Us (Spoiler Discussion) X In The News

From Super Mario Bros. (1993) to Assassin's Creed and to recently Uncharted (starring Tom Holland), videogames turned into movies and/or TV shows have notoriously flopped one after another. It is an established rule to avoid watching from this genre altogether yet one begs to ask why the entertainment industry continues to churn when the response revies are usually negative.

As of January of 2023, HBO Max has released the live action post-apocalyptic series, The Last of Us, based on the massively popular Sony Playstation game of the same name starring Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (A Game of Thrones). Currently is it enjoying high marks on Rotten Tomatoes (99% Average/ 96% Audience) but is it up to TBC_afp snuff?

Black Adam Spoiler Review and More...

Since the mid 2000s, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, then dubbed "the most electrifying man in sports entertainment" had been attached to the project, Black Adam. For many, Black Adam is an unknown whereas for comic book fans he is in DC Comics, SHAZAM!'s chief antagonist, poweful enough even to match the likes of Superman. Forward to late 2022, the project finally comes to fruition in a worldwode cinematic release, all the while Warner Bros ushers in new leadership to its rebranded division DC Studios (formerly DC Films), headed by Marvel Studio veterans, James Gunn and Peter Safran. Disney+ / Marvel's Hawkeye (Season 1 Spoiler Discussions) & The Matrix Resurrections

In one of the most notable iconic Marvel cinematic scenes from The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Clint Barton (portrayed by Jeremy Renner) aka Hawkeye tells Wanda Maximoff "...the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots... and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense." This pretty much sums up Marvel’s ace archer, Hawkeye who represents the analog superhero in a sea of indestructible gravity defying meta-beings and demigods, nevertheless he remains a fan favorite.

And after years of tail-ending the Avenger cast roster on the big screen, Renner finally gets his time to shine. Only it is on the small screen with his own series on Disney Plus. Additionally, Renner shares his marquee along with popstar/ film ingenue, Hailee Steinfeld who also makes her debuts as... Hawkeye.

None of this makes sense indeed or will it?

Trick arrows or not, TBC_afp is bowed up and ready to draw.

What If?

Since the launch of Disney Plus there have been, in our opinion, some Marvel Studios streaming contect hits and misses from Loki to WandaVision to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Season One of the anthology What If has wrapped up. A Twilight Zonesque animated show exploring the MCU's infinite possiblilities (originally based on Marvel's comic book of the same name), leaves us with opportunity for passioned discussion. Success or flop?

It’s got spectacular martial arts, action, family-drama and (spoilers) Avengers but is it TBC_afp certified Thumbs Fresh or Bomb? In-person schooling is back with masks... We are without a mascot... So let's jump right in.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME (SPOILER REVIEW)

As it’s currently reached the billion dollar behemoth status, Avengers: Endgame, sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (both directed by brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo) is the stamped culmination marking 11 years of cinematic triump and world building by Marvel Studios. Captain Marvel (Spoiler Review)

It is Marvel Studio’s tenth anniversary “phase” build up and we are introduced to Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel. With actress Brie Larsen portraying the character lead as Marvel’s biggest heavy, there is without hesitation both excitement from fans and controversy at a trolling level. While, a week into Captain Marvel’s theatrical release and already a half billion dollars at the box office, it’s safe to assume the franchise’s security  though conversations, sometime ignited by inspiration or gender politics rages on...

Ant-Man and The Wasp (Spoiler Review) / Steve Ditko RIP

How would Ant-Man’s best buddy, Luis (Michael Peña) describe this podcast episode in his own words?

“…So there’s like this podcast, its called TBC afp, I mean, afp actually stands for a fanboy podcast. They start off the show by saying: ‘You might not learn anything right… but if you stick around, you just might have some fun’ and I’m like ‘word’ and the co-host and the producer was like ‘word’, Then they start talking stuff about the new Ant-Man and The Wasp movie which  is more of follow up to Infinity War because Scott and Hope were a no show but then people disappeared and started turning to a………”
